- Bolivar plotted his independence movement while managing the family estate. Before he arrived in Caracas he made a stop in the United States and admired its history and constitutions.
- Waiting to Strike: Jamaica

- In 1810 Independence is declared in Venezuela and Bolivar is appointed to be diplomat to London to gain favor and perhaps military support. There he observed the institutions and became spokesperson for independence.

- During these years he freed Venezuela for the first time during his Admirable Campaign, was declared Liberator, and attempted to create a Constitution.

- After Venezuela fell to Royalists in 1814 Bolivar fled to avoid capture. Bolivar was waiting in Jamaica for most of 1815 for the perfect opportunity to retake Latin America.
- Bolivar hoped to find some help in Haiti and help he did receive. Bolivar gained the favor of Haiti and gathered forces for a comeback on the condition that he abolish slavery in his Gran Colombia
- Here in modern day Colombia Bolivar starts many campaigns to free northern Latin America. He frees Peru after getting rid of The Protector and seals the deal after the Battle of Carabobo.
