- Meet the family, there names are: Walter, Ruth, Beneatha, Travis, and Mama. They are all waiting on a check that will be arriving soon worth $10,000. They are getting this check because Mama's husband died and the check is the life insurance.
- Benetha's Career
- Who told you you had to be a doctor?
- Walter just got out of bed and went into the kitchen for breakfast. Also Walter is asking Ruth if Travis has gotten out of the shower so Walter can shower before work.

- In this scene Ruth was denying to give Travis for some money for school. When Walter came over to see what all this arguing was about and then once Travis told Walter, Walter gave him some money for school and fruit.

- In my mother's house there is still God.
- Walter was arguing with Benetha on why she was deciding to be a doctor in the future because Walter wants to have his own liquor store instead of wasting money on Beneatha being a doctor.
- Benetha just came back to the house and Mama questioned her by questioning her where she has been. Then Beneatha told her she was at guitar lessons and Mama was curious.
- Beneatha was questioning why Mama kept mentioning God all the time and then Mama got very mad and yelled at her and slapped her then Beneatha then had to say there is still god.
