South Africa was created in 1910 from the union of two British and two Boer territories. It was a white ruled nation with domain status liked to great britain only in foreign affairs. Internally, it ruled as it was fit.
Stage 3 Revolution
There were lots of laws and restrictions on non-whites. It was illegal for non-whites to live or work in a certain place. Public places like bathrooms were segregated even school and more. Even marriage between races was illegal and non-whites could not vote for any government.
Stage 4 Recovery
In the 1950s they launched a cilivil in which members of the ANC openly violated apartheid laws. People around South Africa even school children were peacefully protesting. Plus to pressure South Africa to change its racist policies the international community imposed economic sanctions meaning people around the world would stop doing thing lide trading.
Nelson Mandela promised to reform but,did not end violence. A fight for leadership broke out between the ANC and largely zulu inkatha freedom party. Thousands of black South African died in the next 15 months. In 1976 black school children in Soweto were protesting peacefully when the police fired on them killing many. people were no longer willing to wait for changes.
In 1994 South Africa held its first all races elections and mandela was elected president. He faced hard challenges of poverty and ADIS epidemic. sadly Mandela retired in 199. In september 1989 F.W. De Klerk was elected president of South Africa he lifted a 30 year banned and released Mandela.
