The hunger games finally start. Katniss is life on her own while Peeta makes an alliance with others who eventually betray him. Katniss makes friends with Rue, another tribute She is only 11 years old. The start of the Hunger Games is very important because it shows the betrayals, the friends made, and how the people back at the capital watch this like it's nothing. Katniss wants to give rue a token of trust but she refuses.

'I like to see it on you. That's how I decided I could trust you.'"

It is announced that there will be 2 winners which gives both Katniss and Peeta hope. Katniss strives to win so both of them can survive. They keep the act that they are in love for the crowd.

“Greetings to the final tributes of the 74th Hunger Games. The earlier revision has been revoked. Only one victor may be crowned.”
At this point, each of every one of the tributes are dead. Katniss and Peeta thought they won but last minute, they revoke the rule. Peeta and Katniss agree they won't kill each other, so they plan a double suicde. Luckily for them, it is stopped.
