- Let's spend the day with Hazel and learn about the phases of matter.

- Ha Ha! Mr. Glutz doesn't realize that he is seeing a phase of matter right in front of him. The steam from the hot cup is showing what happens when a liquid becomes a gas. This is called the melting point. And when the chocolate melts it was a solid but now is a liquid. This is called the boiling point.
- Don't forget to wash your hands.
- Right before it rains you will see clouds in the sky. Clouds are made from water vapors (gas) and once it cools it turns back into a liquid form which is rain. This process is called condensation.
- See all the snow on the ground and the frost on the tree? When a liquid becomes a solid for example water freezing turning into ice, this is called solidification. Also, remember what we learned about rain? When water vapor turns into a solid it is called frost. This is perfect example of deposition.
- I almost forgot the last one and had to look it up! Sublimation. What a word. This phase happens when a solid turns directly into a gas. Can you guess what does this? SOLID AIR FRESHENERS! I didn't know this. When the solid air freshener is heated it turns directly into a gas. This would be perfect room for one. hahahaha
- Wow! What a day. We learned about many phases of matter: melting point, boiling point, condensation, solidification, deposition and sublimation. I love science. I can't wait to see what we will learn tomorrow.
