After the king gets beheaded, a patriot named robespierre joined the government and began to take control. He decided to behead anybody who plans to go against him. Later the number of people killed went up as robespierre accused many innocent people for the treason, when really, they just made a faultless mistake. This started The Reign of Terror.
The next day, he was appointed minister of justice; he appointed Fabre and Desmoulins as his secretaries. More than a hundred decisions left the department within eight days. On 14 August, Danton invited Robespierre to join the Council of Justice, which Robespierre declined to do.
The Aftermath of the French Revolution by James R Arnoldold, for instance, notes in the Robespierre entry that: According to legend, he was placed face up in the guillotine.
