- Strong winds blew Odysseus' ship off course and towards Polyphemuss' island. They unloaded and sought refuge. They came upon a cave and entered it. Not knowing how much trouble they had just put themselves into.
- As they enter the cave, Odysseus and his men are greeted by the presence of the Cyclopes, Polyphemus. The Cyclopes proclaims that his father brought him tasty little snacks and all the men were terrified. Odysseus is also terrified of the monster but he can't be because he had to be a leader. Before Odysseus knew it, two of Odysseus's men are devoted by the Cyclopes.
- Odysseus had to come up with a plan, quickly. So that he and his man were not turned into lunch for the Cyclops. His plan was as follows: Get him drunk, stab him with a stake, and escape. After Odysseus got the Ccyclopes drunk, he convinced the huge Cyclopes his name was "Nohbody". As the Cyclopes slept, Odysseus and his man blinded the Cyclopes with a huge hardened stake. Now all they had to do was escape from the cave underneath the bellies of the sheep.
- After they escaped the cave by hiding underneath the Cyclopes' sheep, Odysseus and his crew head toward the ship so that they can leave the island.
- As the men are fleeing, Odysseus decides to taunt the Cyclopes. By doing this Odysseus and his men are in danger. However, the Cyclopes throws boulders at the ship to kill them because of Odysseus' taunt. Polyphemus prays to his father, Poseidon, to make sure that Odysseus suffers as he tries to go home.
- Perseverance allows people to hang onto hopes and dreams, even when the possibilities are impossible.
