The witches speak to Banquo and Macbeth saying that Macbeth will soon be Thane of Cawdor and King in the Future. The are confused by these prophecy’s but Banquo wants to know about himself.

The witches then state that Banquo will not have the heir to the throne but one day this children will. The witches leave but the two men still question

Angus and Ross come to seek Macbeth to tell him the good news of being crowned Thane of Cawdor. This completely shocks Macbeth because the witches just told him in the future he will be Cawdor.
