- Odysseus and his men set the stake above flames until it was nearly catching fire, then spun it around and around, like a drill, and plunged it into Cyclop's eye.
- Odysseus and his men go on a voyage to find whether the Cyclops are cruel, savage and lawless or whether they fear the gods

- Exposition
- Polyphemus (Cyclops) grabs two of his men and viciously devours them, bite by bite till only memory of them remains, and then traps the rest of Odysseus's crew in his cave
- Polyphemus tells his friends that Nobody tried to kill him, and they, confused, leave him in his suffering because they think that no one tried to hurt him
- Helplessly, we watched

- Odysseus got Polyphemus drunk under the guise of hoping to be in his favor, and told him his name was Nobody
- Odysseus and his men hold onto the belly of sheep and as Cyclops cannot see, he assumes that his sheep are just leaving the cave. Thus, they escape.
- Here, Cyclops, have some wine...
