Kie has to get picked up by his mom to go back home after being kicked out of school for "stealing"
This boy done got kicked out of college
"Just come back soon, Kie," you said. "Do you promise?" (Laymon 160).
Kie gets accepted into Oberlin College and he has to go to Ohio. Before he leaves, he says goodbye to his mother
"I will," I told you. "For real. I'll be back in October. I promise. I will be back so soon" (Laymon 160).
Kies mother is despondent because Kie is leaving her once again for college
"Come back, Kie," you said. "Please" (Lamyon 162).
Kie decided to go back to Mississippi during his break and visit his family for Christmas
"You eating a lot of spinach in grad school or what? You look like you training for the league" I was twenty-six years old, 183 pounds. My body fat was 8 percent" (Laymon 165).
Kies grandma is suffering from an infected hole on the back of her head. So he goes and visits her.
"The white-man doctor got my best intrest at heart," she said. "Grandmama will be fine directly" (Laymon 169).`
