  • After the third estate realized that any attempt at reform would be outvoted by the two upper estates, they decided to go off and form their own government. This was the National Assembly. Due to the fact that they were 98% of the population, they believed it was right for them to make their own laws and control the country.

  • As the National Assembly grew, some members of the first two estates joined their cause. This led to the formation of a radical new political party known as Jacobin Club. During the French Revolution, the Jacobin Club was the most well-known revolutionary political movement.
