- On Christmas day George Washington came up with a plan to sail across he Delaware river and march into Trenton, New Jersey. The troops without much supplies and no shoes surprised the British with 2,400 Americans and the British only had 1,500. The Americans ended up winning this battle with only 5 casualties and the British had 905 casualties.
- Patriot troops from Virginia and North Carolina joined forces met at Kings Mountain and waited for the British army made up of loyalists and led by Ferguson. The location played a big role in the Patriots victory. The patriots were on top of the mountain as the British were trying to walk up it. The British soldiers tried to surrender but they ended up being slaughtered in cold blood.
- Lexington and Concord was the first battle of the Revolution. Britain ended up sending troops over to Lexington because they heard rumors that the colonists were starting to gain more troops and gathering weapons. Two colonists spies heard that the British were going to come and search there territory. Dawes and Revere were sent to inform the colonists The British are coming. The British got there but the colonists were able to move out before they got there. When the British were leaving they ran into a militia and were caught by surprise. The British ended up retreating.
