Hey guys its the Taylor Twins back again live! Today we will be discussing Rule of law, citizenship, and obligations and responsibilities of a U.S citizen. Lets get started!
Lets begin with Rule of Law!
Rule of Law= no one is above the law and everyone is equal under it.When a government violates due process it offends rule of law because they must respect your legal rights, it must be equal.
oh we got a question in the chat!
User6387747887Does Rule of law have principles?
-Accountability before the law-all people are legally responsible for their actions, No one is able to break the law and Constitution allows for impeachment of public officials-Constant application of the law-Everyone should be treated the same by the legal system and all suspects entitled to legal representation-Enforcement of the law-Governments have duty to prevent crime and violence and includes police protection
Yes Rule of law does! There is Accountability before the law, Constant application of the law, Enforcement of the law, and Transparency of legal institutions
Here they are on the board!
-Transparency of legal institutions-trials take place in public, matter of public record, andcitizens have a right to know exactly what laws are
Here is the last one!
One example of a supreme court case that has to do with Rule of law is United States v. Nixon but well take more about that another time!
Lets move on to talk abut citizenship
There are 3 ways to become a citizen and that is naturalization, law of blood, and law of soil
Lets begin with Law of soil!
Law of soil=natural born
Lets go on to Law of blood!
Law of soil= born in the U.S-automatically a citizen
We both are citizens due to Law of blood!
Also one extra thing if you were born on U.S territory you are also citizen
Law of blood=at least one parent has to be a U.S citizen for you to automatically be a U.S citizen
Next lets move to the other way you can become a citizen. You can become naturalized!
Naturalization is the process of becoming a citizen if you were not born in the U.S or have parents that are.
oh we got another question in the chat!

Obligations are duties that as a citizen is mandatory meani-ng you have to do them
Some examples of responsibilities is to be involved with your community/ attend public meetings, vote, volunteer, run and hold elective office, communicate with government officials to influence government actions, be informed, Do community service, and respect others rights.
Responsibilities are actions that are not mandatory but are expected to do as citizens to help the economy
