- While on the run and with many families searching for him in their homes, Montag decides to jump into the river to block his scent from the hound. He also was able to not be spotted by the helicopters searching for him.
- Lets rebuild this city and the people that are in it!
- Montag comes across a group of people sitting within a campfire and meets Granger. The group of people are homeless but are nice to Montag and help him take his scent away.
- The group of people turn out to be just like him and want to preserve books and replenish the world when it is ready. After the campfire, they walk along the stream when Montag had many things on his mind.
- While walking the group sees jets bombing the city to ashes. Once the group recovers, they eat breakfast and decide to go back to the destroyed city and try to rebuild it with its survivors.
