Now Charles Darwin and his assistant James set out to find out about how different animals appear and most importantly "How Humans first appeared". They stumbled across a cave with various historic tools and cave art in it. They used what they found to study the evolution of humans

Evolution is hard
As they studied evolution they adventured to various places. Soon they found themselves on a fossil dig site. While there they looked at human bones that became fossils. They studied to see the difference between old human bones and recent human bones. With this research they were able to use bone structures to conclude humans have changed and evolved over time.
Hey James, don't these look different than what we have seen
Their next adventure led them to a forest where they could study apes. Through the theory of evolution we find that we evolved from apes into humans. Since we evolved we are able to stand and walk on two legs. This is known as bipedalism. Bipedalism is what separates humans from any other mammal on the planet.
Hmmm
This is crazy
They didn't only study apes in fact Charle Darwin's most famous study was the study of birds. He studied finches to further their understanding of evolution. During their study they came up with the hypothesis of natural selection. The idea that the surrounding habitat affects the population of a species. Since his discoveries were so groundbreaking and extraordinary he is referred to as the "Father of Genetics"
What did we learn?
Humans and animals evolve to adapt to their environmentFossils help show we evolved from earlier humansHuman evolution is the process over a large period of time where people originated from apelike ancestors. We are the only mammal to evolve to walk on two feet, bipedalismHumans aren't the only animal that undergoes evolution
