Halku asked his wife to pay the landlord. Munni tells to pay after the harvest because he has to buy a blanket to survive the cold night. Halku tells that if he does not pay the landlord then he will have to put up to the abuse.So Munni gave him the money.
In the cold night , he laid down wrapped up in his old shawl. Halku hugged Jabra tightly and had no resentment towards his bad smell. Halku experienced an ultimate happiness when he embraced Jabra
Halku was sleeping in the cold night .Suddenly Jabra picked up a noise of an animal and started barking. Another hour passed and he felt like that ice was filled in his veins.
Jabra ran towards the field and Halku realised that wild animals broke into the field . He thought that when Jabra is around,no animal can get into the field.
After a while , he took of his shawl and spread his legs challenging the cold to do its worse. He was very proud of himself for lighting the fire.
Next morning he is rebuked and taunted by his wife Munni for being so careless in performing his duty. Munni's face was shadowed with grief and Halku was content.
