- A pleasure to make your acquaintance Mrs. Custis.
- You as well Mr. Washington. Please come in.
- I am a surveyor mostly, though I have served in the war.
- I see, interesting.
- What do you do Mr. Washington?
- Mother, were home from school.
- Nice to meet you, what's your name?
- This is my brother, John. We call him Jacky.
- Children, come meet our guest. This is Mr. Washington.
- My name is Martha, just like my mother. But my friends call me Patsy.
- Don't be scared Jacky. Say "Hello".
- Um, hello.
- I'm sorry, Jacky is shy around strangers. He'll get used to you, I'm sure.
- Are you and mother going to get married?
- Hello Jacky, nice to meet you.
- You too sir.
- I don't mind at all, Mrs. Custis.
- Ha ha. Well, that hasn't been decided yet.
- Your children are very polite and fun.
- Thank you.
- Me and Daniel did our best to raise them. They loved him very much, before he... well you know.
- I don't think I've ever expressed my condolences. Daniel was a good friend, and a good husband. Let me know if there's anything I can do.
- I appreciate the tender words, George. I'm sure we'll manage.
- Please, you may call me Martha.
- Well, I must get back home Mrs. Custis.
- I enjoyed spending the day with you Martha.
- (Kiss)
- So did I George.
- Me too, goodbye.
- Well, um, I should be going. I hope to see you again.
