- CONFLICT
- RISING ACTION
- Montrestor is angry at Fortunato for criticizing his families name , Montrestor uses Fortunato greatest weakness "wine" to get revenge. He meets Fortunato at carnival.
- CLIMAX
- Montrestor invites Fortunato to his palazzo giving him wine on the way to loosen him up
- FALLING ACTION
- Montrestor tells Fortunato he has a whole barrel full of Amontillado "expensive wine" in his cellar under his palazzo, Fortunato can't resist.
- RESOLUTION
- Montrestor talks him to the cellar where there is walls of skulls from his ancient family members but Fortunato doesn't care because he just wants his Amontillado. Chaining him up on a wall Montrestor starts to mortar the area around Fortunato.
- Montrestor starts to feel bad about doing this because of the cries of Fortunato and the wine wearing off. Fortunato thinks this is all just a joke.
- When Montrestor puts the last brick in Fortunato knows its not a joke Montrestor feels bad but at the same time feels satisfied that this is over.
