Shepard, take this child. His parents wanted me to kill him so a prophecy wouldn't be fulfilled. I can't kill him.
You will end up killing your father and marrying your mother
Then I will leave Corinth, so this prophecy doesn't come true
No I won't. You will have to die before I do.
move outta the way you scum
Oedipus' father sent a servant to hang him on a tree by the feet. The reason was because the Oracle told Laius that his son would kill him. So, the servant did tie him by his feet, but took him down and gave him to a Shepard.
A Human person
whats the answer to my riddle
Years later, after the Shepard gave Oedipus to the King and Queen of Corinth, he was told of a prophecy by the Oracle. The Oracle had told him that he would end up killing his father and marry his mother. Little did he know that the King and Queen of Corinth weren't his biological parents.
The man who killed Laius was you, he was your biological father.
I don't understand.
One of King Laius' servants pushes Oedipus onto the road. That ends up tuning into a fight and Oedipus ends up killing his father Laius. One of the servants did survive and ran off.
Why was I cursed with this wretched prophecy?
After traveling, he saved Thebes from the Sphinx and became King and also married the Queen, his mother.
Turns out after he married his mother a curse set out on Thebes. It was said whoever killed Laius, still lived in the city, turns out to be Oedipus. He then figures out then that the prophecy he was told was true and that he killed his father and married his mother.
After Oedipus was told all this information, his mother hung herself in their bedroom. He ended up gouging his eyes out because he couldn't bear to see his parents in the underworld.
