- THEME: This story is about how love may take us further than death. Once there was a man who had a trip in a ship from South Carolina to New York, where he finds out that there´s an old friend of his that is taking the same trip with his wife, his name is Wyatt.
- CLIMAX
- The narrator was friends with Wyatt since Universtity. Wyatt was a great artist from then and has made paintings for important families.On this trip, Wyatt was traveling with his wife, who was known for her beautiful looks and for being a very young woman. Therefore, the narrator finds out as well, that Wyatt has reserved three cabins for him and his two sisters in front of his cabin.
- FALLING ACTION
- Then, he finally meets with Wyatt, his wife, and his two sisters, a moment in which the narrator feels confused since Wyatt´s attitude was unexpectedly rude, and the appearance of his wife didn´t correspond to the image he was told about. Later, the narrator notices the delivery o a curious oblong box that belongs to Wyatt. Consequently, causes the narrator to raise suspicions and curiosity about Wyatt and his particular oblong box
- RESOLUTION
- On one of the following days, there is a storm that produced an accident in which where everyone had to get off the ship in boats. While everybody was trying to leave the ship, Wyatt refused to go without his oblong box eventhough the ship was sinking.
- Briefly, the ship sinks with Wyatt and his oblong box until they reach the bottom of the sea.
- Time after, the narrator talks to the captain of the ship and finds out what was going on with Wyatt, his wife, and the oblong box. In the end, the thing the oblong box kept inside was Wyatt´s real wife's dead body, and the wife he met was his servant.
