Romeo, the only child of the Montagues, loves Rosaline but she doesn't love him back. His friend Mercutio suggests they go secretely to the Montagues' party to meet Rosealine.
Mercutio brings Romeo to the party, and he meets Juliet, the Capulets' daughter. They immediately fall in love but soon find out they are from enemy families.
Romeo finds Juliet on her balcony and they express their love. They plan to get married, then Romeo leaves.But Tybalt, Juliet's cousin, discovers him and gets very angry. He provokes Romeo when he sees him in the street with his friend Mercutio.
Romeo attempts to avoid the fight, but his friend Mercutio fights with Tybalt and gets killed. Romeo kills Tybalt in anger. The Prince of Verona hears Romeo is guilty but tried to avoid the fight, so he decides to banish him instead of killing him.
Romeo and Juliet get secretely married by Friar Laurence and spend the night together as wife and husband with the help of Juliet's nurse. Romeo leaves after discovering he is banished. Juliet's parents decide to marry her to Paris, so she asks the monk for help and fakes her death with a potion.
Romeo gets back as he hears the news of Juliet's death. He finds her in her tomb and drinks poison. Juliet wakes up and sees him dead. She kills herself with his dagger.
