Testo Storyboard

  • "Love is not all: it is not meat nor drinkNor slumber nor a roof against the rain;"
  • "Love can not fill the thickened lung with breath, Nor clean the blood, nor set the fractured bone;"
  • This poem uses vivid imagery of various metaphors to draw stark contrast to the idea that love is a necessity. The imagery is used to paint mental images and define ideas of absolute essentials to life such as breathing, the cleansing of blood, and mending of bone.
  • The primary theme conveyed by the poem prior to the turn is summed up in the first four words, “Love is not all[.]” the author paints a picture of essential concepts showing us they are important to life whereas love is not as vital. Though in the poem’s turn we’re told that some would rather die than be without love stating, “Yet many a man is making friends with death Even as I speak, for lack of love alone”. After the turn the author illustrates that no matter how distraught one may be, love gives them a reason to hold on, therefore making it just as essential as all needs laid out before the turn of the poem.
  • "It well may be that in a difficult hour, Pinned down by pain and moaning for release, Or nagged by want past resolution's power,"
  • "I might be driven to sell your love for peace, Or trade the memory of this night for food. It well may be. I do not think I would." In summary though love isn't a necessity in the traditional sense it's still very important to our survival.
