Testo Storyboard

  • Exposition
  • Main Conflict
  • Harrison Bergeon, age fourteen, has just escaped from jail...
  • Rising Action
  • "...everybody was finally equal. They were equal in every which way." (PG 1, par 1) This paragraph shows what society is like in 2081. Nobody was smarter, better looking, stronger or quicker than anybody else.
  • Climax
  • "'Harrison Bergeron, age fourteen,'... 'has just escaped from jail, where he was held on suspicion of plotting to overthrow the government.'" (PG 3, par 6) Harrison is now in danger because everyone knows he escaped from jail.
  • Falling Action
  • "Screams and barking cries of consternation came from the television set." (PG 3, par 13) "'I am the Emperor!' cried Harrison." (PG 4, par 2) Action is starting to build up as Harrison broke into the Studio.
  • Resolution
  • "She fired twice, and the Emperor and the Empress were dead before they hit the floor." (PG 5, par 5) The climax of the story shows Diana Moon Glampers killing both Harrison and his Empress because they rebelled against the government.
  • "Diana Moon Glampers loaded the gun again. She aimed it at the musicians and told them they had ten seconds to get their handicaps back on." (PG 5, par 6) This shows that there is still action, but it's starting to fall.
  • "'You been crying?'... 'I forget,' she said. 'Something real sad on television.'" (PG 5, par 10-13) This shows that things can't be resolved in this society because the government has so much control over how people think and remember.
