The 5 wise light their lanterns with their oil because the wait is almost over and the wedding party begins soon. The other 5 unwise go to the market to get oil because they left their village without it because they are unwise. The unwise ask if the wise had any oil to share but they refused because there would not be enough for the both of them. They set off for the market.

The 5 wise virgins are inside now because the party started while the unwise were seeking oil at the market. The unwise virgins return and are denied access to the party because they were unprepared for the night of waiting.
Lord, Lord, open the door for us!

This parable relates to us by exampling that if you do not prepare for the kingdom of God in your lifetime you should not expect God to allow you into his kingdom. Just like the way that the 5 unwise virgins were denied access to the wedding party after not being prepared. During our lives we should worship god on Sundays at church. Going to church in our lives is wise, just in the story how the 5 virgins wisely obtained oil to burn. The parable teaches us about how 5 virgins were not accepted to the wedding party because they were unprepared, this is a metaphor for our lives, how we must to be getting prepared to meet Jesus the day we leave this world.
