- You have been chosen to be the next reciever of memory .
- The audience is anxious and confused when Jonas is not called.
- We could not be hasty this time. We could not afford another failure.
- The Chief Elder assigns Jonas the special assignemnt of Receiver of Memory. The audience is awed, but Jonas is worried
- •Intelligence...Courage...Integrity...
- Jonas spots a man that he has never seen before. He is the current Receiver of Memory that will train Jonas.
- It is revealed that the previous Receiver of Memory had been a failure. This worries Jonas and reminds the audicence of some sort of even that Jonas had never heard of .
- The Chief Elder describes the qualities of a Receiver of Memory. Jonas feels as though he does fit the description.
- The crowd chnats Jonas' name as he is selected.
