Do you know how to tell what an indirect between a direct object is, Collin?
Of course, Kayla! I'll tell you what they are, and how to decipher them.
A direct object is the noun or pronoun that receives the action of the verb. EX: Shelley parked the car. A car is the direct object, because what action did it receive? The verb, parked. We can tell what a direct object is by asking us what received the action. Another example includes, 'Jessica ate spaghetti for dinner.' In this context, spaghetti would be the direct object because it tells us what Jessica ate.
That's great! what about an indirect object?
Sure thing! An indirect object is the noun or pronoun that comes between the action verb and the direct object. They tell us to whom, to what. EX: She sent her mom flowers. In this sentence, the in, and for what. direct object would be mom, because it tells us to whom. Another example includes 'Lucy mailed Jonas her letters.' In this sentence, the indirect object would be Jonas, because it is between the direct object and verb.

That's great! What about subject and verbs?
Sure thing! A subject of q sentence is the person, place, or idea that is performing the action. The verb is the action verb. You can tell what the subject is in a sentence by thinking what the action ties to, and who does it. Two examples include 'I am riding my bike', and 'Vinny is singing the national anthem.' The subject and the verb will be 'I am riding' for the first example, and 'Vinny is singing' in the last example.

Exactly. Thank you for listening, and I hope you and Kayla understand now.
