  • Diapositiva: 1
  • "I see something on her forehead""Stubby points kind of like teeth. She's a tooth girl"(Sigler, Page 18
  • This topic is a bit different from the others I've done so far. In Alive, all the characters have a circle on their forehead with something inside. Em is an exception with a blank circle. I think this signifies unity, because at first all the different groups naturally stuck together, such as Bishops group being naturally big, strong muscles, Teeth being smart, were all pulled together and started working together.
  • Diapositiva: 2
  • "The coffins once promised death; now they are life itself."(Sigler, Page 344)
  • To me, The coffins signify struggle. In the very start of the book, all the characters wake up in coffins, Em has to break out after a needle stabs her. Through the book whenever they find a open coffin, it means a dead child inside, eaten by pigs. But at the end all is let go when the ship launches, and they survive being shot around the ship by laying in a padded coffin and surviving. In the end they are referred to as "Beds"
  • Diapositiva: 3
  • "I am looking at a planet. "Space" I say, "We're in a spaceship""(Sigler, Page 263)
  • To me, the ship symbolizes life itself. We learn in the book that all of our characters are man made shells made to survive on the planet of Omeyocan, after the people they're modeled after left a dying earth. Our characters are born here, and survive here, leading them to a life on a new planet, free of worry and fighting.
