- Today we are here to teach you about this week's parsha.This week's parsha is Korach.In this week's parsha we rad a sad but important story that happened while yhe yidden were in the midbar. Some bad and jealous people tried to challenge moshe's leadership, and the very bad results taught the yidden an important lesson.Korach, the person who the parsha is named after, was from the shevet of Levi, so he had the special job of helping the kohanim and carrying parts of the mishkan when they were traveling. But for him this wasn't enough; he was jealous of Aharon because he wanted to be a kohen too. So he got a bunch of people to be on his side- Dosson and Aviram, the usual trouble makers, On, the son of Peles, and 250 other people, and together they went to Moshe and Aharon saying, "Why should you two be the leader and the Kohen? Aren't all yidden special? Why do you think your more special than everyone else?" In order to prove that they were special enough to be kohanim, Korach and his men prepared a korban of Ketores, to bring in the mishkan. Aharon also prepared a korban, and they all stood out side the mishkan holding their pans.
- Suddenly, the earth opened and swallowed Korach, Dosson, and Aviram- and a fire came out and burnt all of the 250 men trying to bring a Korban.All of the yidden watched this, and everyone realized that Moshe was the real leader, chosen by Hashem, and only a Kohen- aharon or his sons - are aloud to bring a Ketores korban. But even after all of that some yidden still complained- so a makkah began to spread. Aharon rushed to bring a Ketores korban as a teshuva for the people and for the makkah to stop.The makkah then stopped. Hashem made one more miracle to show everyone that Aharon's family are the only real Kohanim. Aharon's staff- the dry stick he would carry with him- miraculously started growing almonds. When everyone saw the stick sprouting, it was clear to everyone that Aharon is the kohen chosen by Hashem.
