- It was a dark and stormy night Mr White and Herbert White are playing chess, Miss White is kitting. The Whites are all waiting for Sergeant Major Morris there long time friend to arrive. There starting to wonder if he will make it due to the storm.
- Climax
- Sargent Major Morris has arrived He told the Whites about the Monkey's Paw. The Monkey's Paw was made by an elder of a tribe and grants three people three wished, but in ways that seem so natural that they appear to be a coincidence. He throws the paw into the fire.
- Falling action
- Mr White gets the paw out of the fire, Sargent Morris has to go. The Whites joke around with the Paw not believing Major Morris. Herbert jokingly said at least wish for 200 pounds to pay of the house Mr White wishes. The manager at Herberts job is at the front door the next day. The manager informs them about Herbert's death and gives them 200 pounds in compensation. The Whites were shocked.
- Resolution
- Mis White tells Mr White to wish herbert alive again, Mr White doesn't think its a good idea. He wishes him alive again then there's a knocking on the door Mis White scrambles to open it; Mr White is looking for the paw it dropped on the floor.
- Mr White knows that whatever is at the door isn't Herbert, he finds the paw and wishes for herbert dead again the knocking stops.
- Mis White finally opens the door and there's no Herbert just a empty path.
