- We can't keep using all of the water just for the plants!

- No, we need to keep making more wheat and rice!
- Yeah! We need water for ourselves and for our animals!!
- People settled down where they could grow their own crops. They discovered that they could domesticate animals and plant seeds and gather different crops for food. They could also use the animals for labor or food such as milk from cows. People were allowed to settle down while the food supply increased.
- Agricultural advancements were made to help farmers plant seeds faster. Some inventions were the seed drill, the cotton gin, and a thresher. The inventions required a smaller amount of people to work on the farms and more people could work in the cities.
- Scientists started using biotechnology to alter the plants. Because of this, there were more plants such as wheat and rice that was being produced. The plants needed chemicals with caused runoff to go in the drinking water.
