Testo Storyboard

  • There once was a king named Midas. One day, a satyr called Silenus fell asleep in Midas's rose garden. King Midas found him and allowed Silenus to stay in the castle for a few days, knowing that SIlenus was a friend of Dionysus
  • Hearing of King Midas's generosity and hospitality, Dionysis granted King Midas one wish.
  • Midas accepted Dionysus' wish and wished that everything he touched became gold. Dionysus, though he thought it was a foolish wish, granted Midas his wish.
  • With Joy, King Midas ran around his castle, turning everything into gold.
  • However, shortly afterward, Midas found his golden touch quite annoying; He couldn't eat and he couldn't drink.
  • The final straw came when King Midas broke down in despair in front of his daughter, hugging her, when suddenly, he was no longer hugging his daughter, just a frozen gold statue.
  • King Midas begged Dionysus to remove his wish, as it had also become his curse.
  • Taking pity on Midas, Dionysus appeared before him and told Midas to go to the river and plunge his head and body into the river to wash away his curse.
  • Following Dionysus' advice, Midas jumped into the river, effectively washing away his curse.
  • The Moral of The Midas Touch, could be don’t be greedy in life, be happy with what you have (Ct 1). This moral fits with the myth because the myth is about a greedy king who wants more, which leads to the eventual realization that having too much is not always a good thing. Another Moral could be People who want to get everything all at once usually end up getting nothing in life (CT 1). This moral also fits with the myth because King Midas wanted to make everything he touched into gold, but ended up turning his daughter, and all the essentials in life into gold as well, causing him to have everything but nothing all at once.
  • Climate Change is the problem of the world changing due to human choices. For example, deforestation is a cause of climate change because it creates Global warming, which means that the carbon dioxide that is normally being converted into oxygen due to photosynthesis, is no longer occurring due to the chopping of trees. Another example is pollution because the amount of plastic and garbage in the ocean affects the lives of sea creatures because it can tangle them and cause them to be trapped and die. Finally, the issue of smoke pollution is also another factor of global warming because the pollution creates more carbon dioxide, which causes more global warming.
  • The Issue of Climate Change is very similar to that of the myth of The Midas Touch because of the morals learned In the tale. For example, the first moral: don’t be greedy in life, be happy with what you have (Ct 1), tells us that to be satisfied in life, we must appreciate what we already have. The same lesson is taught with climate change because humans neglect the earth, with its oceans and forests, for their own benefit. These benefits consist of wood and gems from the earth to create jewelry and fancy furniture to show off. This causes less oxygen to be created due to the process of photosynthesis getting carbon dioxide from humans, and giving oxygen for humans to survive, but the reaping of trees allows for less oxygen to be created.
  • Moral
  • I predict that the ancient Greeks would advise modern-day humans to create a better trash system so that the trash in the ocean would no longer be in the ocean. Another thing they could advise us could be to find better methods of building houses and furniture without cutting down too many trees as a way to stop global warming. Finally, the last piece of advice the Greeks might tell us is to stop harming the earth and to appreciate what we have because it could lead to catastrophic results.
