- BEAST
- Ralph realizes the disruption in their society. He calls for a meeting to enforce the rules. The beast comes up again in the argument. Simon suggests that maybe they are the beast. The boys think he is silly. Jack again focuses on the beast and the hunt for it.
- After an air battle, a dead parachutist falls on the island. Specifically, the mountain, Where the fire was and has gone out. One of the boys sees it and claims he is the beast.
- Jack continues on the hunt. Ralph joins him to reestablish his role. The boys lose themselves in the hunt and go crazy. They couldn't kill the boar but in their reenactment of it, they beat another boy.
- Jack calls for a meeting, he claims that Ralph is a bad leader. No one at the time agrees with him. Jack leaves the group and goes into the forest. Later other boys join him.
- Simon wanders off again. When he goes into his garden he finds a sacrifice that the other boys left for the beast. It starts to talk to Simon and tells him that he should be paranoid. Simon then has a seizure.
- When Simon wakes up he runs to the group on the beach. they are all celebrating the murder of another pig., they are also singing and dancing chaotically. The group thinks Simon is the beast and beats him to death.
