I started in Spring. By summer, I was taking him down to the old woman swamp every day and standing him up on his feet. He'd fall almost right away. Occasionally, I'd become discouraged because it felt like he wasn't making any progress. Until one day, after many weeks, he stood up for a few seconds. And we cried out of joy, because we knew it could be done.
Doodle, YOU'RE STANDING!

We continued to train after that. Doodle's legs grew stronger over time. I began to boast around the house that we had something spectacular to show them. However, we chose to wait until October 8th, Doodle's 6th birthday to reveal it so that he'd actually be able to walk. It's always so hard to keep a good secret. On that day, at breakfast, I took Doodle out of his go cart and stood him up, and he walked. My mom began to cry, and my dad and Aunt Nicey were thrilled. Doodle told them I taught him to walk and they wanted to thank me. But I began to cry, because I was selfish and had taught Doodle to walk for me, and not for him.
Son, you taught him this? I'm so proud of you both!
WILLIAM! I KNEW YOU WERE A BLESSING FROM GOD!
Brother taught me to walk!

A couple of months later, Doodle learned to walk well, which made my pride swell up. I decided to teach him how to run, swim, climb trees, and even fight. Yes, my heart was glad about this thought. Doodle believed in me too. So, we started training, in order to get him ready for school which he'd start in a little less than a year. But, we fell far behind schedule wasted our time. I decided to push us twice as hard so my brother would be like the other kids at school.
Come on Doodle, faster!
I'm trying brother!
