Hi Steve! Yes! The Indian Govt. has announced a new policy which involves the use of Biologically Procured Ethanol along with Petrol/Diesel .
This is Aimed towards reducing the risk of air pollution and to deal with agricultural by products of some crops majorly grown in India. SOUNDS SO SUSTAINABLE RIGHT?

Hmm, I don't quite get it? Biofuels? Sustainable Policy? What is it about? I know only about Petrol and Diesel.

The National Biofuels Policy was notified by the Ministry of Petroleum and Gas in the year 2018. The Policy Categorizes Biofuels as 1. Basic (1G Ethanol, Biodiesel etc.) 2. Advanced (2G Ethanol, Municipal Solid waste to drop in fuels) and 3rd Gen 3G Bioethanol, Bio-CNG etc.

Hi Krishna! I heard the Indian Govt. has been working on something revolutionary related to the new fuels.
Okay let me explain. Biofuels are fuels derived from biomass, which is plant or animal material. To put it quite simply the biomass for example Bagasse which comes post processing of sugarcane is fermented by bacteria which eat the sugars and convert it into Ethanol. This ethanol is then added to petrol (a 20/80 blend is done as of 2019 reports).
Hahah! Yes, see it is cost effective too. Hope you now have an idea about the National Policy on Biofuels (2018).
