We all know that Earth is, so far, the only planet that supports life, and that billions of many different flora and fauna thrive in its environment.
We also know that these flora and fauna multiply in order for their species to survive. They do this through a process called reproduction
Now, what is reproduction? And why is it so important for living things?
Reproduction is the process where two animals of the same species produce offspring.
It usually requires two parents to produce offspring, but some species are able to reproduce asexually.
In nature, many organisms eat and get eaten by other organisms, so reproduction is necessary to maintain their populations. If a species were to go extinct, a chain of problems will occur. The organisms they eat will increase in population and may become invasive whereas the organisms that prey upon them will lose their food source and may also die out.
The main significance of reproduction is maintaining the continuity of species of living organisms, and by extension, life on Earth.
All living beings on Earth have a part in maintaining it's environment, and the environment in turn provides these creatures a place to live and thrive in.
Reproduction is very important in maintaining the Earth's biosphere, if it doesn't occur then no living creature, not even humans, will be able to exist for long.
