- Romeo climbs over the orchard wall to see Juliet and hides behind the tree/bush, so no one will see him.
- But soft, what light through yonder breaks? it is the East, and Juliet is the sun. Arise, fair sun, and kill the envious moon...
- Romeo notices that there is a light on and observes Juliet coming out to the balcony
- O Romeo, Romeo, wherefore art thou Romeo? Deny thy father and refuse thy name, Or, if thou wilt not, be but sworn my love, And I'll no longer be a Capulet.
- Juliet does not know that Romeo is there. she calls out to Romeo declaring her feelings of love out loud and questions the fact that she might be in love with her families worst enemy.
- Romeo decides whether he should stay quiet or respond back to Juliet.
- Shall I hear more, or shall I speak at this?
- 'Tis by thy name that is my enemy...So Romeo would, were he not Romeo called, Retain that dear perfection which he owes Without that title. Romeo, doff thy name, And, for thy name, which is no part of thee, Take all myself.
- Juliet speaks and Romeo decides to speak. He startles Juliet, but agrees with what she asked.
- I take thee at thy word. Call me but love, and I'll be new baptized. Henceforth I never will be Romeo.
- What man art thou that, thus bescreened in night, So stumblest on my counsel?
- And the place death, considering who thou art, If any of my kinsmen find thee here...If they do see thee, they will murder thee.
- With love's light wings did I O'erperch these walls, For stony limits cannot hold love out, And what love can do, that dares love attempt.
- Juliet tells Romeo that if he were to be found by the kinsmen they would kill him, but he doesn't care and replies that he flew over the walls with love's light wings because walls cannot keep their love apart.
