- Toussaint L'ouverture was the leader of the Haitian Revolution. The biggest goal he had was to abolish the slave population and help fix the political and social structure.
- My goal is to abolish slavery!
- L'ouverture joined the Dessalines and together, their army was able to defeat the France. It was called the Battle of Vertieres and was one of the main battles in the Revolution.
- As a result of the Haitian Revolution, Saint-Domingue officially became the Republic of Haiti.

- The Haitian revolution also allowed the Dessalines to sign he Haitian Constitution of 1805.
