  • My first piano recital
  • My dad
  • Bullied in Sixth Grade
  • I started learning the piano when I was 7 years old. I practiced my duet with my teacher to get ready for my upcoming recital. I felt prepared with the piece I was going to play and I could even play it with my eyes closed. For each person that performed, I hoped that I wouldn't be next. When we started playing, it was all going well until my hands slipped out of nervousness and I lost where we were in the music. I panicked and stopped playing but my teacher guided me back to where we were in the music. I'm glad that I had this experience because I learned not to let nerves get to me and that its important to be confident.
  • COVID
  • My dad is one of the biggest influences on my identity. He has influenced my personality and my hobbies. We both love learning new things and helping others. We like the same jokes and like talking about similar things. My dad is a very talented musician and has inspired me to play instruments and sing like him. Music is one of the biggest things in my life that make me and I wouldn’t have my love of music if it weren't for him. My dad is a good person and he has always been there for me. He has set a good example for me and has inspired me to try my best and never give up.
  • Romeo and Juliet
  • My sixth-grade year was terrible. People in my classes called me names and would trip me in the hallways. There weren’t many people who were nice to me and I only had a few friends. A lot of people didn’t know how bad my day was and made it worse by saying mean things to me or taking my stuff. It mainly lasted for the sixth grade but after that people started maturing and there were a lot more kind people to be around. From this experience, I learned not to let others succeed in ruining my day and to be grateful for the positive things instead of focusing on the negative things.
  • COVID had a huge impact on my life. My whole family had to work and do school from home. I really didn’t like doing virtual school and preferred to speak with my teachers and friends in person rather than on a screen. I didn’t like wearing a mask all the time and having limited social interactions. It was a huge change and it took a while to adapt. COVID has shown me that there is always hope in tough times and has helped me to realize all of the things that I took for granted.
  • “Romeo and Juliet: A Story of Shakespearean Love or Modern Day Hate?” has shown me that seeing different perspectives can help your understanding of things. The article related Romeo and Juliet to modern-day politics and showed us that we still see the themes in the play today. The author connected the relationship between the Democratic and Republican parties to the Montagues and the Capulets which helped better my understanding of the hate they have for each other. I can understand and relate to the play more by looking at it in a different way and comparing it to something I’m familiar with.
