Testo Storyboard

  • Brutus' speech - Ethos
  • Believe me on my honor, and respect that honor so that you will believe me.
  • Brutus' speech - Pathos
  • Would you prefer that Caesar was alive and you all die as slaves, or that Caesar were dead and you live as free men
  • Brutus's speech - Logos
  • Caesar was valiant, so I honored him; but Caesar was also ambitious, so I killed him
  • Brutus is saying that you should believe him because of his reputation. His reputation makes him seem more credible. This usage of ethos shows the crowd that he is reliable and that they should believe whatever he says.
  • Antony's speech - Ethos
  • Friends, Romans, countrymen,  give me your attention. I've come to bury Caesar, not to praise him
  • This quote is saying that if Caesar were alive they would be slaves. This appeals to the audience's emotions and makes them thankful that Brutus killed Caesar. He used pathos so that the audience would think he killed him for the good of Rome.
  • Antony's speech - Pathos
  • When the poor would cry Caesar would weep-ambition should be made of sterner stuff than that
  • Brutus is saying while there are good things about Caesar there are also bad. He makes the people believe that the bad outweighed the good and that it was enough reason to kill him. He used logos to make it seem like it was the logical choice to kill Caesar
  • Antony's speech - Logos
  • I presented him with a kingly crown three times, which he refused three times. Was that ambition?
  • He compares himselve to the people in the crowd and brings himself onto their level. This helps the crowd to relate to him and makes them see that he's not here just for Caesar. This use of ethos establishes why he's there and helps the crowd view him as a honest man whose not there for his own reasons
  • He makes the audience feel that whatever they would feel Caesar would feel it more powerfully. This makes the crowd sympathetic towards Caesar while also giving the crowd a reason to distrust Brutus. This use of pathos makes the crowd more fond of caesar and distrustful of Brutus.
  • This quote shows how Caesar wasn't as ambitious as Brutus made them believe. This quote is also what makes the crowd fully question and distrust Brutus's speech before. This Logos makes them all see the logic and reason behind why Brutus is wrong and that he isn't as honorable as he seems.
