The exposition of the Story of an Hour includes in the beginning of the story where Mrs. Mallard is about to inform about the sudden death of Mr. Mallard, her husband. Knowing that Mrs. Mallard was afflicted with a heart trouble, Mr. Mallard’s friend, Richard tells Mrs. Mallard's sister, Josephine to tell Mrs. Mallard the sad news in a way that won’t shock her.
Climax:
When Josephine tells Mrs.Mallard that her husband was one of those who died in the railroad accident.
When Mrs.Mallard weeps in wild abandonment and then suddenly goes to her room and forbid everyone to follow her. That was the time she started reflecting on what just happened. As she opens the window and starts observing the nature around, there are thoughts that comes in to her mind, she finally understands that she has never felt freedom during her life with her husband, Mr. Mallard.
While grieving from the sudden lost of her husband, Mrs. Mallard realizes that she is now free from the marriage in which she wasn’t happy. She begins to feel happiness inside her body because she knows that she will have a new life without her husband. In that case, she is able to do what she wants and achieve freedom.
