- The mints used in Colgate products are natural and minimally processed
- Our mints are US grown in the Pacific Northwest & Midwest.
- Mint fields are used for a maximum of 4 years before crops are rotated
- When the crop is ready, the mint is cut
- The harvested mint is gathered and transported for distillation
- Mint is steam distilled and the oil is separated. (steam is passed through the plant material containing the desired oils)
- Once distilled it's filled into drums and sent to a flavor broker.
- Colgate purchases the flavor oil and it's shipped to Burlington, NJ where it's compounded with other flavor ingredients
- The finished product is sent to one of our Oral Care manufacturing sites and put into one of our many toothpaste formulas
