  • Ernest Rutherford (1911)
  • My name is Ernest Rutherford, I am a New Zealand-born British physicist who came to be known as the father of nuclear physics. I postulated the nuclear structure of the atom, discovered alpha and beta rays, and proposed the laws of radioactive decay.

  • Electrons
  • Ernest Rutherford found that the atom is mostly empty space, with nearly all of its mass concentrated in a tiny central nucleus. The nucleus is positively charged and surrounded at a great distance by the negatively charged electrons.
  • Nucleus
  • The nucleus is the positively charged centre of an atom and contains most of its mass. It is composed of protons, which have a positive charge, and neutrons, which have no charge. Protons, neutrons, and the electrons surrounding them are long-lived particles present in all ordinary, naturally occurring atoms.
  • Nucleus
  • My name is Niels Henrik David Bohr and I am a Danish physicist who made foundational contributions to understanding atomic structure and quantum theory, for which I received the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1922. I have added to the theory of the atom circular orbits around the positively charged nucleus.
  • Niels Bohr (1913)
  • In the year 1913, Niels Bohr proposed an atomic structure model, describing an atom as a small, positively charged nucleus surrounded by electrons that travel in circular orbits around the positively charged nucleus like planets around the sun in our solar system, with attraction provided by electrostatic forces
  • Using the Research and help of these brilliant Chemists, we were able to derive a more universally recognised and accurate structure of the atom.  The Atomic structure we see today is the combined work of all the great chemists who made hypothesis and theories of the structure of the atom, each adding on to the other. In conclusion, the final parts of the atom or the subatomic particles are the: Protons, Neutrons and the Electrons
  • Conclusion
