  • In this coral reef, a species of blue-colored fish dwell near the coral for protection and shelter. Their vibrant colors complimented the corals' colors, therefore they could easily hide from their predators.

  • However, as time go by and years pass, the surrounding environment change. Coral began to die off due to global warming leaving the blue fish exposed to outside predators, like the whitetip shark.

  • The fish were very worried about their chances of survival. If something did not happen soon, the species would die off.Fortunately, the fish's color slowly became grayer over time to adapt to the new environment.

  • The fish that adapted to their environment were able to camouflage with the ocean ground. while the fish that kept their vibrant colors ended up becoming prey to their predators. This process is known as natural selection.

  • Gray fish kept on mating with other gray fish to produce more gray fish, ensuring a greater chance of survival. However, this meant that the blue-colored fish began to shrink as generations passed by.

  • In the end, the fish population grew back to their normal size, and they now don't have to worry about their predator, the whitetip shark, since they can camouflage with the ground. They've successfully adapted to their surroundings by changing the color of their scales from blue to gray.
