  • Has the jury reached a verdict?
  • Yes Your Honor, we rule in favor of the defendant.
  • Thank goodness for the jury! I told y'all I never agreed to pay that much!
  • But.. no! He said he'd pay me $50 to mow his lawn!!
  • In this scene, a jury has decided the winner of a court case over an alleged payment agreement. It depicts the right to a trial by jury in a civil case mentioned in the 7th amendment. This is because there is a jury deciding the verdict, and the case is over a civil argument rather than a crime.

  • I'm so happy I got my drivers license! But why does it say Texas instead of America?
  • That's because the federal government doesn't have power over the license, so the state does.
  • The girl in the scene just got her drivers license, and she was wondering why the state's name was on it. The mom explains the state rights protected in the 10th amendment: that all rights not given to the federal government are reserved for the states. Therefore, the state is in charge of issuing the drivers license because it is not listed that the national government is.

  • Hey! Your hair can't be purple, it doesn't say you can do that in the Constitution!
  • What!?
  • This scene shows a woman being told that her hair can't be dyed a certain color because that right is not listed in the Constitution. This violates the 9th amendment because it states that all rights not specifically listed in the Constitution you still have. This means that even though the right 'to dye your hair' isn't mentioned, you still have the right to do so.
