  • These absurd scenes show that people are becoming more and more sensitive, because it seems like every single part of life must be affected so that no one feels inferior. Vonnegut seems to at least allude to the fact that there wasn't really much point in anyone living anymore, due to the handicaps preventing anyone from really doing anything useful. There would be no innovation, because smart people were constantly pushed down until their brains were broken. There couldn't even be any actual entertainment, or even thought. This leads Harrison and the beautiful ballerina to whether specifically or not, chose death over continuing to live the way that they were, constantly hampered down
