- French & Spanish owned the majority of North American land in the seventeenth century. The French had the most valuable land because they had more land than everyone else. The French and Indian War were forced to give up much of their land.
- Settles attacked and killed several Cherokee people when they were returning back from the battles against the French. That’s what’s started the Cherokee war.
- The Cherokee war lasted about two years. A lot of people died. Cherokee stopped the trade by taking Cherokee peace representatives as hostages.
- The Cherokee were allies of the British. The reason why is because, British needed the Cherokee as defend against French attacks. They were depending on good trade
- The Cherokee wanted protection from the British. The British failed to protect the Cherokee when the French and their Indian allies were attacked. They felt like they were getting cheated
- The government tried to stop all trade to keep peace. The French wanted to trade and that’s when the treaty with the Cherokee of 30 years happened. They wanted protection and that is how the Cherokee war started. The way it ended is that there was a treaty that forced Cherokee to give up their land.
