  • On Monday, after enjoying his weekend sailing, John comes to the office, he gets an alert from the system that there is a new job opportunity advertised potentially matching his skills, and goes to an interactive internal opportunities job marketplace for the post of Scientific Officer FGIV – AD06 which is opened for at least 2 weeks (as the job board is available on the internet).
  • Having discussed the fact that he is interested in moving elsewhere with his manager during his regular bilats, as well as appraisal process, he feels confident that he will get his manager’s support. His career ambitions were also noted, as well as interest in internal mobility.
  • He applies for the job by updating his pre-filled application (small tweaks), and it takes him not long, as his profile is already uploaded in the system (skills database, employee profile). As requested, he adds to the application his motivation for the new role and/or pre-screening questions. His application is acknowledged.
  • Why are you interested in this opportunity? And what will you bring to this role?
  • All applications are considered, but only staff who fit into a new role are invited for the interviews. Feedback to those not invited is given by hiring manager on reasons (specifically allowing for development).
  • His interview takes no longer than 30 min, as a hiring manager/HR already have background information on his competencies, skills, achievement, special projects, etc.
  • Not only I have background relevant to the role, but I also worked for the Agency for 5 years now.
  • Within a week of the interview, John is informed that he was selected for the job. His current manager is informed in parallel and welcomes the good news preparing to recruit for a replacement and helping John with his handover
  • JOB OFFER
  • John accepts the offer (assignment), and within max of 6 weeks, he moves to the new organizational entity.
  • While waiting for the transfer, he prepares handover notes, gathers all information for his successor. When he joins the new organisational entity, he is provided with an introductory training package on his new duties and responsibility and helped by a colleague to settle in the new environment.
