- It was a dark stormy night and a father and son are playing chess, mother is knitting when greeted by a guest.
- Climax
- The family is talking with the sergeant about the monkeys paw, they start to talk about the monkeys paw which is now in the sergeants possession. He doesn't the want the paw and gets upset; he throw it in the fireplace. Mr. White wants it and ends up retrieving it .
- Falling Action
- He granted his first two wishes leading up into the third, his 1st was 200 pounds but It didn't come true until his his son died at work and he gets the money (200 pounds) from his death
- Resolution
- For the second wish his wife wanted him to wish their son alive again but he doesn't want to do it because he thinks he is going to come back looking like how he died but she made him. They hear knockin on the door and thinks its the son, so the Mr.White is scared.
- When mr. white doesn't want his wife to open the door because he's afraid of what's on the other side, she's pulling and pulling and he tries to stop it .
- Mr. White finally wishes his third wish and wishes his son to be dead again. The knocking stops; and when they open the door his third wish came true his son wasn't there.
