  • But she's a happy girl with a good life. How can she have bulimia?
  • Well, anybody can develop bulimia. However, factors such as poor body image, having close relatives with bulimia or other mental health disorders, and being teased or bullied about one's weight can put people at a higher risk for developing bulimia.
  • She told be that some kids teased her about her weight when she was younger, but I didn't think it upset her so deeply that she developed bulimia; she always told me she just ignored those kids.

  • The dentist told me your teeth indicate that you may be bulimic since you brush and floss your teeth regularly. Do you know what that it?
  • Nooo...whatever that is I don't have it.
  • Bulimia nervosa is an eating disorder that involves a cycle of binge eating and purging to prevent weight gain. Your dentist told me you admitted to her that you do that, so you don't need to lie to me. I'm not upset with you, I'm just concerned. I'm going to take you to a therapist so you can be diagnosed and get help.
  • This is a non-negotiable. You're going to therapy.
  • Are you serious? I told the dentist not to tell you. I don't need to see a therapist; it's really not a big deal.
  • Diapositiva: 3
  • I know. How do you feel? Your therapist told me you've been doing really good.
  • Hey Mom, I just realized it's been a year since I started therapy.
  • I feel a lot better than I did last year. My body feels healthier and I feel happier. I know I gave you a hard time about making me go to therapy at first, but now I'm glad you did.
  • That's good. I can tell you're doing better; you seem so much happier.
