- Tyler was an only child and he was surrounded by his parents constantly arguing and bickering. All he did was stand by and watch.
- His father was very aggressive not only towards his mother but Tyler as well.
- Tyler was often very distance from the other kids at school. He preferred to be by himself and was very antisocial.
- Tyler's broken family has caused him to be very fearful. He would become highly anxious when Ms. Gomez would talk to him. Ms. Gomez began to noticed this suspicious behavior.
- "Is everything okay at home, Tyler?" Ms. Gomez asked. Tyler shook his head and turned away. "Mommy and daddy fight a lot. Daddy mean." Ms. Gomez had to step in and make a change.
- Ms. Gomez kept in contact with child-protection services to get Tyler out of that dangerous home. She also has Tyler visit the school counselor to get the help he needs.
